We announce our role as the lead industry partner for the pan-European initiative ICUdata4EU. This significant project aims to standardize and enhance the cross-country use of patient data for critically ill individuals, thereby building a robust infrastructure for data use and communication across the European Union. Such infrastructure will drive innovation in critical care significantly, leading to more precise, faster and more efficient clinical decision-making and diagnosis as well as more personalized care plans and predictive healthcare. The ICUdata4EU project started on September 1 2024 and will run until January 2028.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clinomic\u2019s Central Role and Contribution<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Clinomic’s participation in ICUdata4EU is pivotal. As the only industry partner among 17 partners from eight countries (DE, AT, BE, PT, EL, LU, LV, RO) under the leadership of Uniklinik RWTH Aachen<\/a>, Clinomic contributes 31 % of the total project efforts, showcasing its commitment and capability, and will receive supportive funding by the EU. The company is responsible for building and operating the ICU – European Health Data Space (EHDS<\/a>) for the EU. Clinomic functions also as Work Package Leader regarding the development of a Sustainability Model and a Business Case for the long-term operation of the solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Priv.-Doz. Dr. Lukas Martin (MHBA), co-founder and Chief Medical Officer at Clinomic: \u201cOur Mona systems (Medical On-site Assistant)<\/a> are integral to meeting the ICUdata4EU project\u2019s diverse requirements, ensuring interoperability with hospital IT systems and medical devices, standardizing data, supporting telemedical consultations in compliance with GDPR, and anonymizing data for secondary use in research and innovation. We are looking forward to working together with academic, scientific and ICU experts from all over Europe\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing Critical Challenges in Intensive Care<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ICUdata4EU tackles some of the most pressing challenges faced by Intensive Care Units (ICUs), including an aging population, a shortage of specialized staff, and the need for improved response to crises such as pandemics and wars. The initiative brings together a strong consortium that leverages established networks, societies, and federated infrastructures to deploy an ICU dataspace infrastructure. This infrastructure will facilitate the linkage, access, and exploration of ICU databases related to acute care, intensive care, and telemedicine across the EU.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Innovative Solutions for Medical and Societal Impact<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project’s objectives focus on technological, medical, and societal innovation. ICUdata4EU aims to develop new data-intensive tools for decision support and risk prevention. By confirming and demonstrating the effectiveness of the dataspace infrastructure, the project will pave the way for a previously unattainable speed of innovation and will ensure security, interoperability with various datasets and modelling tools, finally leading to improved care provision, efficiency, and effectiveness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building on a Strong Foundation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ICUdata4EU builds on the pan-European initiative \u201cTelehealth Europe\u201d and is supported by the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF). It collaborates with Telehealth Hubs in over 12 countries, closely linked with the European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH) and the European Reference Networks (ERN), particularly ERN on Acute Care and Telemedicine (ERN-ACT). Additionally, the project is integrated with the digital skills telehealth and telecare education centre DS4Health, ensuring comprehensive governance mechanisms for secure cross-border access and use of ICU datasets.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
