Clinomic receives a landmark order from Sana Kliniken for 200 digital assistance and telemedicine systems Mona

  • Mona rolled out to multiple intensive care units
  • Sana make a significant stride in advancing healthcare digitization
  • Artificial intelligence revolutionises support in acute care

Hürth/Ismaning/Aachen, February 05, 2024

Sana Kliniken AG has placed a substantial order for Clinomic Group GmbH‘s digital assistance and telemedicine system, Mona (Medical On-Site Assistant), to be deployed across many of its intensive care units. The order includes the supply and integration of more than 200 terminals, marking the largest procurement to date for Clinomic’s acclaimed and certified solution. This deal also signifies the strengthening of the strategic partnership between the two companies, which commenced with a pilot deployment of Mona terminals and Sana’s engagement since Clinomic’s financing round in July last year.

The Mona assistance and telemedicine system for intensive care units provides support to medical and nursing staff throughout the patient care journey, from admission to discharge. The terminals can be used to fully document patient data, including medication administered, clinical measurements, findings, and procedures. Data is recorded directly on the terminal, sometimes also by voice input. With its structured user interface, Mona offers a clear overview of the patient’s condition, streamlining workflows and minimising information overload.  Ultimately, Mona empowers intensive care unit staff to maintain better oversight of clinical measures while simultaneously reducing the burden of documentation.

Cross-sector data ecosystem

„Technological progress is of great importance for healthcare,” says Stefanie Kemp, Chief Transformation Officer (CTO) of Sana Kliniken AG. “We need digital support with a cross-sector data ecosystem from a single source to ensure that we can provide patient care in Germany in the future, especially in the acute sector, in line with demand. We have been actively driving Sana’s digitalization in this direction for years. Innovations such as those from Clinomic play a key role in this.”

„Mona significantly reduces the workload of nursing staff and doctors in intensive care by eliminating paper charts, leaving much more time for patients,” says Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Gisbert Knichwitz from Sana Hospital Hürth, which introduced Mona during a pilot installation at the beginning of 2023. “The intensive care treatment supported by the system has run smoothly and efficiently so far. We therefore see great potential for the intended AI functions.”

Drivers of the transformation of the healthcare system

„With its investment in Clinomic in summer 2023, Sana Kliniken already made it clear that digitalization is a key instrument for the Group. The gradual equipping of numerous facilities with our Mona terminals is the logical continuation of Sana’s commitment and active transformation of the healthcare system,” explains Georg Griesemann, CEO of the Clinomic Group, and adds: “We are proud to build on the far-reaching trust of Sana Kliniken to develop Clinomic into a leading provider of digital healthcare solutions.”
